1. Huckabay ISD student CTE project

TreatMap is a school project created by students at Huckabay Independent School District in conjunction with their Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher. Students designed and built the project as part of their CTE coursework, and their CTE teacher supports and guides the work as their instructor.

TreatMap is an educational technology project. Unless Huckabay ISD states otherwise in an official written announcement, it is not an official district-sponsored trick-or-treat event, transportation service, childcare service, security service, or safety program. Nothing about this project is a promise by Huckabay ISD, the CTE teacher, any other instructor, or any student that a listed location is verified, appropriate, safe, participating, or available.

The district, board of trustees, school, administrators, the CTE teacher, other teachers and instructors, employees, volunteers, student creators, and participating students do not verify addresses, inspect properties, supervise visitors, provide security, distribute food, or organize travel to any location shown on the map.

Student involvement does not make any student personally responsible for operation of the public service, for addresses submitted by other people, or for conduct occurring at listed properties. Student information, grades, and classroom records related to this project are not published on TreatMap and are not part of the public map.

2. TreatMap does not organize an event

TreatMap only displays information submitted by independent users. It does not create an invitation to enter private property, establish a host–guest relationship, arrange transportation, supervise children, provide crowd or traffic control, or undertake a duty to protect any person. Each homeowner independently decides whether, when, and how to participate.

3. User-generated information; no verification or guarantee

Addresses, dates, hours, food descriptions, decorations, accessibility information, and other details are supplied by users and may be inaccurate, unauthorized, outdated, misleading, duplicated, or fraudulent. A pin does not guarantee that a home is participating, that treats remain available, that lights will be on, or that the occupant consented to publication.

TreatMap and the protected parties do not perform background checks, property inspections, food inspections, identity verification, address-ownership verification, or continuous moderation. Never rely on TreatMap as your sole source of safety information.

4. Parent, guardian, and visitor responsibility

Parents and legal guardians are solely responsible for deciding whether a location is appropriate, supervising minors at all times, choosing routes, inspecting treats, complying with curfews and laws, and responding to weather, traffic, animals, strangers, darkness, crowds, uneven surfaces, decorations, electrical equipment, and other hazards.

• Do not enter a home, fenced area, vehicle, or other private space.
• Visit only clearly participating, well-lit locations.
• Use sidewalks and lawful crossings; never assume drivers can see you.
• Leave immediately if a location appears unsafe or participation is unclear.
• For an emergency, call 911. TreatMap is not monitored as an emergency service.

5. Food, allergies, choking, and product safety

Labels such as “healthy choices” or “allergy-friendly” describe a submitter’s claim only. TreatMap does not inspect, prepare, package, certify, or guarantee any food or product. Ingredients, cross-contact, tampering, recalls, choking hazards, dietary restrictions, and labeling errors remain possible.

Parents, guardians, and recipients must independently inspect all items and determine whether they are safe. Anyone with a serious allergy or medical condition should follow their healthcare professional’s safety plan and carry prescribed emergency medication.

6. Private property and participating hosts

A map pin is not permission to trespass. Visitors must obey signs, barriers, property boundaries, homeowner instructions, and applicable law. Participating hosts remain responsible for their property, lighting, walkways, animals, decorations, electrical cords, food distribution, insurance, and compliance with law. Hosts may stop participating or refuse entry at any time.

7. Maps, location services, and third parties

Map tiles, geocoding, directions, device location, and navigation may be provided by OpenStreetMap, the U.S. Census Bureau, Google Maps, Cloudflare, browsers, networks, and other independent services. Routes and coordinates may be incomplete or wrong. Follow road signs, closures, law-enforcement instructions, and actual conditions rather than blindly following an app.

8. Rules for submitting an address

By submitting a location, you represent that you are at least 18 years old, are the property owner or have the property owner’s express permission, and have authority to publish the exact address and participation details. You agree not to submit another person’s home as a joke, retaliation, harassment, advertising scheme, or without permission.

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of your submission. TreatMap may edit, hide, reject, or delete any submission or suspend access without notice. Submission does not create an employment, agency, partnership, school, volunteer, or event-organizer relationship.

9. Assumption of risk, release, and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, you voluntarily assume all risks arising from or related to TreatMap, trick-or-treating, travel, visits to listed properties, user submissions, food or products, interactions with other people, and reliance on map information.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TreatMap’s owners, operators, developers, administrators, moderators, hosting providers, vendors, contributors, participating property owners, the Huckabay ISD student creators and participating students, their CTE teacher and other instructors, and all referenced or potentially associated school districts, schools, boards, administrators, teachers, employees, coaches, volunteers, parent groups, sponsors, students, and families (collectively, the “Protected Parties”) will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for injury, illness, allergic reaction, death, theft, property damage, trespass, traffic incidents, criminal acts, inaccurate information, unavailable locations, or other loss arising from use of TreatMap or participation in any activity shown on it.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, creates liability where immunity or another legal protection applies, or waives any governmental, official, statutory, or common-law immunity or defense available to a school district, school, employee, volunteer, or other Protected Party.

10. Indemnity by submitters

To the fullest extent permitted by law, an adult who submits content agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold the Protected Parties harmless from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from the submitter’s unauthorized, false, unlawful, or infringing submission or breach of these terms.

11. No warranties

TreatMap is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, safety, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. The service may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time.

12. Public addresses, privacy, reports, and removal

Published locations are visible to the public. TreatMap does not require public names, student information, phone numbers, or email addresses and users must not place such information in notes. Do not submit information about a minor.

Hosts should save their private removal link. Anyone may use the “Report pin” control to report an incorrect, unsafe, duplicate, private, or unauthorized location. Reports are not monitored continuously and do not replace contacting law enforcement or emergency services.

Automatic deletion: submitted addresses are deleted automatically after the season. A stop is removed once its own last listed night is more than 14 days in the past, and cached address searches age out on the same schedule. You can also remove your stop at any time with your private removal link or by asking the moderation team to hide or delete it.

13. Festivals and community events

TreatMap also lists festivals, trunk-or-treats, fall carnivals, and other large community gatherings. Event listings are submitted by an organizer or an authorized representative and are not verified, endorsed, sponsored, organized, staffed, insured, permitted, or supervised by TreatMap, Huckabay ISD, the CTE teacher, or any student.

Event organizers are solely responsible for their event, including permits, insurance, venue permission, security, traffic and parking control, crowd management, food and product safety, accessibility, weather decisions, cleanup, and compliance with all applicable laws. TreatMap does not screen, approve, or monitor organizers, vendors, attractions, or activities, and does not guarantee that an event will take place, be safe, be age-appropriate, be accessible, or be as described.

An event appearing on the map does not mean that the venue, city, county, school district, church, business, or organization providing the location approves of TreatMap, is affiliated with it, or is responsible for it. Statements about candy, food, activities, hours, or admission are supplied by the submitter and are not verified.

Attending any listed event is voluntary and at your own risk. Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising the children in their care at all times, including in parking areas and crowds.

14. Texas law; severability; changes

These terms are governed by Texas law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. To the extent a court proceeding is permitted and venue is not otherwise legally required, venue will lie in Erath County, Texas. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. TreatMap may update these terms, and continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
